Pluto Health Launches C.A.R.E On Deck to Bridge Care and Clinical Research

New Care Model Closes Gaps and Expands Access, Integrating Research as a Care Option

Today, Pluto Health, a leader in AI-enabled care delivery, announced the launch of C.A.R.E on Deck, an innovative care hub that guides patients to personalized health options, designed to empower patients to take an active role in their health. The platform uncovers meaningful opportunities for people — such as getting labs done at home and asynchronous or real-time clinician chats — while seamlessly integrating access to clinical research as a care option.

With this offering, clients and patients can Connect, Assess, Review and Engage (C.A.R.E.) with health information from various sources and obtain a curated view on opportunities, whether for care or research, that they may qualify for in real time. AI-enabled integrations, clinician chats, and telehealth visits ensure ongoing support, making it easier for patients to take timely, informed action.

Over 30% of patients on Pluto do not have a consistent primary care doctor. Additionally, patients — particularly in underserved communities — often face fragmented systems and limited access when moving between routine care and clinical research, with more than 80% of U.S. counties — representing 120 million Americans — lacking sufficient healthcare services. Only 9% of U.S. adults have been invited to participate in a clinical trial, and more than half of those who pursue enrollment fail screening. C.A.R.E. on Deck addresses these barriers by streamlining pre-screening, providing actionable health insights, enabling direct access to clinicians, and supporting engagement regardless of insurance status or prior care history.

Unlike traditional models that treat patients as one-time participants, Pluto Health fosters ongoing ‘health advocate’ relationships that recognize individuals as people first, delivering culturally responsive care support and options over time. “We have to recognize that people can have complicated health histories that need support whenever and wherever their health journey takes them,” says Joy Bhosai, MD MPH, Founder & CEO of Pluto Health.

“Medicine is so siloed. It’s about time we recognize that it’s not about a specific organ system, the studies or the one-off projects, or how a campaign for a specific condition was positioned — it’s about treating patients as people and honoring their journey,” says Bhosai. “We as an industry must do a better job of listening to the needs of people and providing convenient options that advance their health if we’re striving to do a better job of engaging diverse communities.”

"To a cancer patient considering a clinical trial, the process doesn't feel voluntary,” says Eric Perakslis, Chief Science and Data Officer at Pluto Health. “Seriously ill patients often feel that access to research is not separate from care, but their best hope of successful care. Currently, medical care and biomedical research are separated by regulatory regimes and data systems, but not by intent. With C.A.R.E. on Deck, Pluto is building a bridge between care and research to enable patients, physicians, and research organizations to drive towards best outcomes without redundant processes, data systems, or bureaucracy."
