Cerebral Sets Clinical Standard by Opening Its Proprietary Training to First External Partner: Williamsburg Therapy Group

Cerebral, a leading provider of integrated mental health care, today announced the opening of its proprietary training and clinical development platform—the Cerebral Institute (Institute)—to external clinical partners, beginning with the highly respected Williamsburg Therapy Group (WTG). The focus of this partnership is the integration of its methodology directly into WTG’s Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program, ensuring clinical quality measures are systematically met as WTG strategically expands to offer insurance-based care.

The Cerebral Institute provides structured training and continuous learning in the Resilience Methodology, which it acquired through Resilience Lab, and has been proven to significantly accelerate the development of provisionally licensed clinicians and facilitate the measurement and delivery of better, integrated care for clients.

WTG is renowned for its highly rigorous Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program, which focuses on the deep integration of scientific research and diverse clinical modalities, ensuring its fellows develop comprehensive diagnostic and treatment planning skills. As WTG strategically expands its practice to accept insurance, it is leveraging the Institute's training to ensure their continued commitment to quality is met with Measurement Informed Care (MIC) standards.

The Institute’s training model is a direct answer to the national mental health workforce crisis, which is increasingly under scrutiny as AI tools enter the care ecosystem. While the national average for Master’s-level therapists to reach full clinical licensure is approximately 54%, the Institute has successfully trained and supervised its provisionally licensed therapists, resulting in a licensure rate of 80%. The partnership with WTG will extend this successful pipeline model to WTG’s post-doctoral fellows.

“Beyond provider shortages, the central challenge in behavioral health today is ensuring access to high-quality, consistent human care,” said Dr. Anica Camela Mulzac, Provost of the Cerebral Institute. “Our model is designed to safeguard the human therapeutic relationship by producing highly skilled clinicians who deliver measurable, evidence-based outcomes. By opening the Institute to partners like WTG, we are actively filling the mental health gap, proving that investment in continuous learning is the fastest way to bring new, qualified therapists into the market.”

Dr. Daniel Selling, Owner and Director of Williamsburg Therapy Group, commented on the partnership: “Williamsburg Therapy Group has long maintained a commitment to clinical excellence, anchored by our highly rigorous Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program. This collaboration is a strategic decision to augment that core strength, giving our fellows access to the Cerebral Institute’s measurable, outcomes-focused methodology.”

Setting a New Standard in Mental Health Care through Robust Clinical Training

The Institute trains and certifies both prescribers and therapists, ensuring alignment in treatment to facilitate the measurement and delivery of better, integrated care for clients. This training and continuous learning infrastructure provides a scalable model of consistent quality care, ensuring that a qualified human remains at the center of the therapeutic relationship.

The Institute's Resilience Methodology emphasizes a strong therapeutic alliance, which is crucial for successful outcomes in therapy by facilitating open communication, adherence to treatment, and engagement. Research has consistently shown that a strong therapeutic alliance is one of the most important predictors of positive treatment outcomes. Institute-certified clinicians demonstrate uniquely strong client engagement of 92%.

In addition to its proprietary methodology training, the Institute is authorized by several governing bodies to provide continuing education, including the American Psychological Association (APA), the New York State Board of Social Work (NYSWB), and others.
