Sovereign Bancorp Widens Losses

Sovereign Bancorp Inc. (NYSE: SOV) widened fourth quarter losses to $3.34 per share compared with losses of 28 cents per share last year as the company wrote down $1.58 billion.  The stock price tumbled $1.04 to close at $10.09.
