Countrywide Expects Profit In Fourth Quarter

Countrywide Financial Corp. (NYSE: CFC) posted a third quarter loss of $1.2 billion, its first quarterly loss in 25 years, but suggested that it will be profitable this quarter and through 2008.  Shares of the nation's largest mortgage lender soared $4.23 to close at $17.30.
